The SD Flower Hub is inviting experienced flower farmers to participate in our 12-week Fall 2025 pilot program. This is your opportunity to join a cooperative sales and distribution model designed to streamline florist sales and build a regional flower economyβ€”together.

βœ… Who Can Participate?

We’re currently onboarding a limited group of growers for this pilot phase. To be eligible, your farm must:

  • Have at least one full growing season of production experience

  • Have experience selling through at least one sales channel (e.g., CSA, florist accounts, farmers market, etc.)

  • Be able to list weekly crop availability 7–10 days prior to harvest

  • Deliver directly to one of our hub locations on Tuesdays

  • Submit an invoice with each delivery

  • Agree to our Flower Hub Onboarding Packet

πŸ“ What’s Required of Participating Farms

We ask all participating growers to:

  • 🌱 Follow Crop Standards & Growing Practices

    Harvest and condition flowers according to our freshness and size standards

    Use only natural or OMRI-certified inputs (no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides)

    Only sell crops grown on your farm

  • πŸͺ£ Package & Label Properly

    Use clean, sturdy, stackable buckets

    Label each bucket with:

    Farm Name

    Product Name

    Quantity (e.g., 10 bunches)

    Delivery Date

    If you want your buckets returned, make sure they’re labeled clearly with your farm name

  • 🚚 Deliver on Tuesdays Choose your drop-off location:

    Each delivery must include an invoice, either printed or emailed

  • πŸ’» Use Local Food Connect

    You’ll use Local Food Connect (LFC) to manage availability:

    Update availability: Fridays 12pm – Sundays 11:59pm

    Orders placed by florists: Monday – Wednesday

    Pick lists sent: Friday

    Only harvest crops listed on your pick list: Monday/Tuesday

    Deliver to hub: Tuesday

    Let us know immediately if something becomes unavailable

    Optional: Join our WhatsApp group for weekly reminders & updates

  • πŸ’΅ Understand Pricing & Payment

    You set your own wholesale prices

    Foodshed adds a 20% markup to cover admin and logistics

    Invoices are paid via ACH or check within 1 week of receipt

  • 🧼 Keep Things Clean & Safe

    Buckets must be clean and pest-free

    Alert staff to any crop issues or quality concerns

  • πŸ›‘ Have (or Consider) Liability Insurance

    Strongly encouraged for all participating farms

    If insured, add Foodshed Cooperative Inc. as an additional insured party
